First tomato of the season
Well it is official I have my first official red tomato of the season this morning while watering. It was from a hanging basket my dad gave to me for Father’s day called "Tom’s Tumbler" which should cascade over providing lots of cherry tomatoes.
I also noticed some of my "Early Girls" were also starting to produce so fresh garden salsa should be coming soon.

I am also growing little Tumbling Tom this year and it is just covered with tomatoes that should be turning red any day now. Can’t wait!

I have one of those topsy turvey planters but didn’t use it thise year as I planted a whole slew of upside down tomatoes last year in buckets and it wasn’t great. Fortunately I reused the buckets to plant peas and beans in this year!

I also have a tumbling tom. It’s producing really well, but the leaves are really withering and I’m concerned there won’t be much leaves for it to survive soon. Should I repot it or will that kill it?

renata, guess my first thought is if they are really producing well “if it’s not broken..” Your wilting could be from lack of nitrogen or over/under watering. I have an entire post on watering, but as for fertilizing when the plant begins to flower you should apply some balanced fertilizer preferable something specifically for tomatoes assuming you have a pretty consistent water schedule a little fertilizer may help perk them up a little. As for repotting think tumbling toms are recommended to be planted 12-18 inches apart so as long as it is currently in about a 12 inch pot you should be good.
