Interviewed on NPR’s Science Friday

Another exciting day this week to be included in an interview on Science Friday with Ira Flatow. I’ll update this post and press page with a link to the interview when it becomes available.

For people who were listening live here are a few of the topics that were discussed for quick reference:

I got to hear your interview on Science Friday. I really liked a lot of the ideas you gave (and the callers too) and I have just started looking at all the great info on your website! Thanks!

Thanks Lora, I am glad you found us. After reading the transcript of the interview, I realized answering question live is much more difficult than doing the same in writing. Guess I need some more practice 🙂

it was great to hear your voice! i think you did a great job on the interview and seemed very much at ease. so happy you’re getting worldwide exposure!

we had a stretch of 80-degree weather and everyone in reno went wild planting their gardens. then three days of snow toward the end of may! our garden is kaput. live and learn! we’re not planting again until june is solid warm weather. next year we’re definitely going the hoop house/greenhouse route!

deborah, I guess you can get self conscious reading a transcript of an interview to discover your nervous recurring phrases. Glad I didn’t sound that bad from a less critical reviewer 🙂

Found your blog through Sci Fri and I’m very glad that I did. Love it. Keep up the good work.

How did I miss this post?! I heard the interview on my podcast today and I was pretty much floored when I heard it was you. Took me by surprise!

I have to ask–how scripted was the interview? I’ve always thought that SciFri interviews weren’t really impromptu, but planned out.

So… ya gonna try some of that world’s greatest Pico? 😉

Carre Anne, thanks and welcome to the site.

Emrikol, well I will have to take it as a complement if the interview sounded scripted, that was the first time I heard those specific questions. I had about a mock interview with the producer a week before the live interview though to get an idea of the type of questions I would be asked and to ensure I didn’t answer with 2-3 words responses leading to a very long painful interview. So can’t speak for all interviews in the show but this one was definitely not scripted 🙂

  8. Emrikol Says:

You did quite well then! Hopefully they’ll ask you back again next season.
